First blog post

It's my second day back in South Africa after my eurotrip with Brandon " jacko" Jackson.

I got back two nights ago and awoke to find Shawn Dennis, my good friend and next door neighboor telling me the piers in town should be sick, and so it was we had 3-4 foot left barrels and all round long left handers which was a nice welcome home present!

My last trip was probably my favourite trip so far since my semi-start to my QS carrer. Although the waves in the heats werent too good, our free surfs around the contest beaches were epic! We had slabs, point breaks and mental beach breaks.

Myself and Jacko surfed one beachy that had cobblestones/ rocks that we had to cross to get in to the water, well we thought thats all there was, turns out the spot has the most sea urchins in the Canary Islands according to the locals and that we, luckily discovered the terrible, sharp, trip ruining crustaceans or what ever they really are, one step away from standing on, what looked like a nest of about 50 urchins that were on top of the rocks. Together with the slipperiest rocks ever, made entering the ocean extremely difficult.

Anyway i notified jacko and we went back a couple rocks and walked parallel to the waters edge, looking for a break in the sharp little bastards, I was walking ahead of jacko when he let out a little shout, just in time for me to witness him slipping in slow motion. This wasnt the usual slip then get up, as he was slipping he put his hand out onto a higher rock to try prevent the fall which also ended up slipping and causing a very, awkward positioned fall! And to put the cherry on the cake, his board somehow managed to land on top of him, all adding up to be, what he calls the worst slip of his life.

Besides a couple scratches and bruises, nothing was too badly hurt. And this fall didnt stop him from splitting me in the super fun beachy.

I will hopefully have a video up withing the next couple days of how the waves have been and who and where i have been surfing.

Cheers
Beyrick
